Anyone who has looked through the recordings of Rossini operas in their CD collection will probably not immediately come across "La gazza ladra" ("The Thieving Magpie"). For there are currently only two available CD recordings of the work, and neither of them is the most recent... so it's time for a contemporary version! And it comes in the form of this album from the highly acclaimed festival "Rossini in Wildbad" with the Rossini Ideal Orchestra Virtuosi Brunensis, assembled especially for the event. The conductor of this live recording is none other than the great Alberto Zedda, known as "the best Rossini interpreter of our time" (Manuel Brug in Fono Forum 5/2015).
