Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov himself wrote the libretto for his enchanting opera "The Enchanted Christmas" based on the eponymous story by Nikolai Gogol . The handsome blacksmith Wakula wants to marry the wealthy peasant girl Oksana. She demands that he first bring her the Tsarina's shoes – as proof of love. As if that were not difficult enough, demonic forces try to prevent this romantic union… There is hardly any other opera repertoire in which the power of magic and the spirit of enlightenment combine so happily as in Rimski-Korsakov's fairy operas.
