Pugni: The Pharaoh’s Daughter (Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow 2003, Choreography: Lacotte / Petipa)

Marius Petipa was the great, influential choreographer of the Bolshoi Theatre in the 19th century. His choreographies are considered timeless classics and valuable documents for the development of classical ballet. Petipa's extravagant production The Daughter of the Pharaoh was brought back to the stage at the Bolshoi in 2003 based on original designs, with the original music by Cesare Pugni, Europe's leading ballet music composer in the 19th century, which is also well worth rediscovering.
