Description

Video artist Franc Aleu, a member of the group “La Fura dels Baus,” transports Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Turandot” into the future. At the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, he uses projection mapping (projectors project images onto various structures, such as building walls) and 3D technology to spectacularly bring the story of the cruel princess to life. In the title role, Iréne Theorin, one of today’s leading dramatic sopranos, who has already sung many of Wagner’s most demanding heroic roles, shines. Singing by her side is one of today’s most important tenors, Jorge de León. Ermonela Jaho appears as Liù.
