Puccini: Songs & Chrysanthemums, Symphonic Prelude

Giacomo Puccini wrote only a few works for voice and piano accompaniment. Eleven songs were published during his lifetime; others were long considered lost. In 2010, the first critical edition of the 16 vocal compositions in total could be presented, several of which have a close relationship to Puccini's operas. Arranger Johannes X. Schachtner orchestrated the scores, which function like piano reductions. American tenor Charles Castronovo, a rapidly rising star of the international opera scene and "Artist in Residence" for the 2023/24 season of the Munich Radio Orchestra, has recorded these rarities under the direction of Ivan Repušić.
