Prokofiev: Romeo and Juliet (Zurich 2019, directed by Christian Spuck)

Like few other works, Shakespeare’s "Romeo and Juliet" has inspired generations of artists to create adaptations. In his colorful, passionate music, the Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev brilliantly captured the collision of love and hate and the proximity of tenderness and violence. Inspired by Prokofiev’s poignant music and the timeless quality of Shakespeare’s tragedy, choreographer Christian Spuck and the Ballett Zürich tell the world’s most famous love story through powerful imagery, filled with gripping theatricality and moving emotions. With Mikhail Jurowski, a true Prokofiev expert stands at the helm of the Philharmonia Zürich.
