The combination of piano with live electronics has been one of the most popular in the field of New Music since the post-war period. On this double album featuring music by the French composer Brice Pauset, who studied with Henri Dutilleux, arguably the most influential French composer of the 20th century alongside Olivier Messiaen, his canons for piano from the collection perspectivæ sintagma/(canons) for piano with live electronics are contrasted. They reveal spherical sound worlds that on the one hand hint at Dutilleux's influence, while on the other hand have completely broken away from traditional tonality. Brice Pauset is a professor of composition in Freiburg.
