The Paradisi gloria concert series forms the heart of contemporary sacred choral and orchestral music in Munich and enjoys international renown among connoisseurs of sacred music. The concerts in the modern architecture of Munich's Herz-Jesu-Kirche form a fortunate meeting of space and sound. The now available CD brings together four world premieres, which in pairs have the theme of "Magnificat" or "Mary" as their subject. The young generation of composers includes Oriol Cruixent, born in Barcelona in 1976. "Abismes", translated as "Abysses", is a captivating orchestral work in avant-garde, diverse, and extremely vivid sound forms. In Gerd Kühr's "Magnificat", choir and solo singers join in. Kühr's modern, enlightened perspective on the biblical word incorporates texts by Rilke and Lichtenberg. In fascinating contrast stands the intimate, the power of silence conjuring orchestral work "Archipel" by the young Polish composer Joanna Wozny. As a festively radiant finale to the program, Johanna Doderer's "Salve Regina" can be heard. "To fill a hall with radiant sound" is the credo of the Austrian composer. Ulf Schirmer has opened new programming areas with the Munich Radio Orchestra in a short time and given the orchestra an unmistakable profile. Together with the Bavarian Radio Choir, which has been one of the internationally leading vocal ensembles for decades, compelling performances of works from the 20th and 21st centuries are created in the highest musical quality.
