Description

Despite his notable students (including Karol Szymanowski) and his famous teacher (Stanisław Moniuszko), few music lovers have heard Zygmunt Noskowski's music to date. Yet for much of the 19th century, he was the most important representative of modern symphonic music in Poland. His Third Symphony and the tone poem "The Steppe", op. 66, combine deeply felt Romanticism with Polish folklore. In his symphony, he takes us on a virtuoso musical journey through the seasons, while "The Steppe" reveals itself as an impressive landscape painting, with echoes of Alexander Borodin's masterpiece. Once again, these unjustly forgotten works are brought to light by the proven conducting of Polish conductor Antoni Wit. The Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz performs the work, and the recording was made in June 2024 at the Philharmonie in Ludwigshafen.
