Nodding Terms

New music and groove – can they go together, and do they exist? Musical boundary-crosser Ketan Bhatti nods. On »Nodding Terms«, he fuses contemporary chamber music with current club music. For this, the composer, drummer, and producer invited the German-Icelandic ensemble Adapter into his studio and involved his studio neighbors Paul Frick and Jan Brauer from Brandt Brauer Frick in the production process. The musicians have all studied classical instrumental music and know their way around pop. Acoustic tracks are therefore miraculously transformed into electronic tracks. Dry beats flow into iridescently shimmering ensemble sounds. Genre and stylistic boundaries blur and dissolve. This music inevitably – see the album title! – leads the listener to nod their head. Not just because it grooves. But also because it’s clever!
