Närkesamlingen 1731

The Närke Collection, Pehr Andersson's music book from 1731, is now being brought out of obscurity in a double album. To explore this violin book and its musical language, part is performed by a Baroque ensemble - Örebro Barock - and the other by the folk musicians of the group Ma1. In the 18th century, folk music and Baroque music did not exist as concepts, but rather music flowed freely between farms, churches, military musicians, and manor houses. "Närkesamlingen 1731" lives up to this by featuring both Baroque and folk musicians on the recording. Although the original material is old, this is a recording full of innovations. With one or two exceptions, none of these songs had been previously recorded for release - and half of the songs were also arranged with new, Baroque-inspired voices. The Närke Collection from 1731/Pehr Andersson's music book is the oldest music book in the entire collection of the Folk Music Commission, a particularly interesting and exciting compilation.
