Mozart: Symphonies No. 8 + 40 / Posthorn Serenade

The SWR Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Sir Roger Norrington, live-recorded more than 20 symphonies by Mozart in two weeks at the European Music Festival in September 2006. The recordings span from the earliest to the latest works. The aim was to reproduce the performance style of Mozart's time as authentically as possible. Vol. 3 of the series includes Symphonies Nos. 8 and 40 as well as the symphony based on the "Posthorn Serenade" - and thus contains an early, a middle, and a late symphony. Following the great success of his recording of the Beethoven symphonies, Sir Roger Norrington and his orchestra are once again venturing into the territory of the Classical period, and listeners can expect to enjoy it from the comfort of their own homes.
