The Staatsoper Berlin presents a new production of Mozart's early masterpiece "Mitridate, re di Ponto", which he composed when he was only 14 years old. This captivating story of love, power, and betrayal revolves around a king and his two sons, who vie for the love of the same woman. Under the direction of Marc Minkowski, Les Musiciens du Louvre, playing on period instruments, bring new energy and nuances to Mozart's complex opera seria. The international star cast (singers from Samoa, Romania, the USA, France, Cyprus, Gabon, and Madagascar) shines with impressive vocal artistry. Ana Maria Labin, who plays Aspasia, is a renowned specialist in Baroque opera. In a production where different worlds collide, director Satoshi Miyagi and his Japanese production team have created an almost magical atmosphere.
