Description

The young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed the oratorio "The Obligation of the First Commandment" at the age of only 10 in 1767 upon his return to Salzburg after a successful European tour with his father Leopold and his sister. The rich and varied orchestration attests to Mozart's early talent for enriching the musical narrative with instruments and highlighting the emotions of the drama. The libretto depicts a half-hearted Christian who, thanks to divine mercy and justice, is brought back to the path of virtue by the spirit of Christianity despite all temptations. Camille Delaforge and Il Caravaggio emphasize the young Mozart's impressive harmonic skill with their excellent playing.
