Mountain Greenery

This great double album is a tribute to the jazz singer, songwriter, pianist, drummer, actor, arranger, author, and producer Mel Tormé (1925-1999). He was one of the most popular and influential jazz singers of the post-war era and simply one of the greatest popular singers of all time. Known as 'The Velvet Fog', he had a gentle, soft voice, slightly husky yet smooth, over which he always maintained complete control. His repertoire was a model of musical quality. "Mountain Greenery" is a well-deserved tribute: 51 tracks that summarize Mel Tormé's influence on the music scene. It contains his greatest commercial successes "Careless Hands" (a No. 1 hit), "Again", "The Four Winds And The Seven Seas", and the duet with Peggy Lee, "The Old Master Painter". The oldest track is his own composition from his teenage years "A Stranger In Town" from 1944, in which, as in several other early hits, his Mel-Tones can also be heard (including the unforgettable "What Is This Thing Called Love?" with Artie Shaw).
