Description

In an environment defined by vanity and insecurity, the young widow Célimène is the self-confident mistress of her own destiny. Men from high society come and go in her house. Célimène enjoys the attention of her many admirers, but her heart belongs only to Alceste. However, his rampant jealousy repeatedly puts their love in danger. Director Anne Lenk left the text of the 1666 comedy unchanged, even maintaining the rhyming verse. Nevertheless, the comedy feels modern and spirited, demonstrating the timelessness of Molière.
