Močnik: St. John Passion

In Slovenia, the name Damijan Močnik is associated with a vibrant and youthful choral music scene in which he is widely celebrated as an educator, conductor, and composer. With his "St. John Passion," the Slovenian composer Damijan Močnik (born 1967) has created a work of universal appeal, placing himself within a great European tradition of sacred music through his use of a Latin text. The musical language is tonal yet modern. Ensuring the authenticity of the interpretation, alongside the Slovenian Philharmonic Choir, is the Croatian conductor Ivan Repušić, who, as Chief Conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra, is deeply committed to the contemporary music of the Western Balkans.
