Minkus: La Bayadère (Royal Opera House, London 2019, Directed by: MacGibbon)

La Bayadère is one of the greatest ballet classics of all time. Léon Minkus’s ballet premiered in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in St Petersburg. In this new recording by The Royal Ballet, Marius Petipa’s original choreography is recreated. Once a showpiece for Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn, today it is performed on the stage of The Royal Ballet by the superstars of our time: Natalia Osipova, Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov. It is rare to see all three of these leading stars together on one stage, making this production of the classic a dazzling display of dance by international stars.
