Description

La Bayadère is one of the greatest ballet classics of all time. Léon Minkus's ballet premiered in 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in St. Petersburg. In this new recording by the Royal Ballet, Marius Petipa's original choreography is recreated. This ballet was once a signature piece for Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn; today, the superstars of the present dance it on the Royal Ballet stage: Natalia Osipova, Marianela Nuñez and Vadim Muntagirov. It is rare to see all three of the scene's top stars together on one stage, and this production of the classic becomes a fireworks display of the world's greatest dancers.
