Description

The ballet "Don Quixote" is based on the epic novel of the same name by Miguel de Cervantes. Often considered Cervantes' first modern novel, the work tells of the chivalrous adventures of the eccentric nobleman Don Quixote and his faithful squire Sancho Panza. The ballet focuses on one of their adventures, in which they help bring together a spirited young couple, Kitri and Basilio.

This energetic work, originally choreographed in the 19th century by Marius Petipa, is brought to life by Ludwig Minkus' spirited score. "Don Quixote" is a wonderful showcase for the virtuosity of the Royal Ballet's solo dancers, with its cheerful ensemble dances and brilliant solo roles. Carlos Acosta's lavish production, created for the Royal Ballet ten years ago, brings the sun and charm of Spain to the stage.
