In 1674 presented Lully and Quinault a new collaborative work: Alceste, a Tragédie en musique that combines the dramatic power of the Greek myth that inspired it with the musical richness of the French Baroque. Although Lully and Quinault were criticized by their rivals, the opera delighted the court of Louis XIV and promoted the new genre of Tragédie en musique. Stéphane Fuget explores this world where love, sacrifice, and duty intertwine, supported by magnificent arias and choruses of unimaginable expressiveness, performed impressively by Les Épopées and the Chœur de l'Opéra Royal.
