Liszt / Bartók / Dohnányi: Ruralia Hungarica

Following her first live recording for Channel Classics (CCS47825), French-Hungarian pianist Suzana Bartal pays tribute to her Hungarian roots with a program that presents a variety of styles – from Liszt and his Gypsy influences to Bartók, who delved deep into folk and peasant music through his folk song collections. Ernő Dohnányi's Ruralia Hungarica, composed in 1923, is more Late Romantic in character, even though the composer himself occasionally drew on folk music.
