Liberty

"Liberté", the new album by Ukrainian pianist Anna Fedorova, is a cultural and musical dialogue between France and America. The influence of jazz plays a central role in this homage to French and American composers whose works transcend genre and national boundaries. At the heart of the program, which was recorded in collaboration with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León under the direction of Pablo González, are Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major and Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue". The program is complemented by short solo pieces that explore the album's central themes: three miniatures by Germaine Tailleferre, one by Andrew Blickenderfer, and the jazzy "Valse" from Partita No. 5 by Fedorova's compatriot Myroslav Skoryk. "Liberté" is rounded off with two French chansons.
