Land's End

A steep, windy path snakes through groves of redwoods and over eerie cliffs. Occasionally, one finds small shelters made of Pacific madrone branches, polished so that they shine like bone in the sun. But at a high point, the land suddenly ends, and then: just the sea, a vast, green horizon full of unimaginable possibilities.

Along the way, one can experience the glow of a green rock, reflect on the failure and success of fallen heroes, on the evolution of mores, on the reality of psychedelic flashbacks, on the Resistenza, on the wrath of King Herod, and finally, on the earthiness of building structures only to watch them gently collapse.

This album, interpreted by the Sardinian pianist and composer Claudio Sanna, is dedicated to the optimism expressed in the journey described above: its unmistakable energy. These pages, many of which were created on the Pacific coast, are steeped in a sense of borderland.
