Australian composer, pianist, and musicologist Linda Kouvaras explicitly understands her creative work through a feminist lens. Her song cycle "She, Who Should Have Been a Queen," set to text by Antoinette Halloran, sheds a radically new light on famous female characters from opera literature, combining scenic dramaturgy with social reflection and pointed humor.

"To the Lighthouse" for brass quintet unites a feminist subtext with baroque-inspired agility and tonal lightness. The "Bundanon Suite," meanwhile, reflects Kouvaras’ close relationship with the Australian landscape: in sweeping, virtuosic piano textures, musical images of the region around the Shoalhaven River in New South Wales emerge, characterized by lyrical lines and a distinct sense of space and atmosphere.

Featuring musicians from Kouvaras’ Australian home: soprano Antoinette Halloran, pianist Coady Green, and the brass ensemble Lyrebird Brass.
