Koechlin: The Seven Stars' Symphony op. 132 / Vers la Voûte Etoilée op. 129

The music of the criminally underrated composer Charles Koechlin is always worth discovering again. One wonders why it is not performed and recorded much more often. Given the title "Seven Stars Symphony", one might think of a planetary work à la Gustav Holst's "The Planets", but in reality, it contains portraits of Koechlin's favorite film stars, which he immortalized with a fine brush, wit and humor, and no small amount of depth in seven symphonic movements. Also included: Koechlin's "true" celestial work: "Vers la voûte étoilée".
