Koberidze / Winterauer: Telematics

The album "Telematic" by Giorgi Koberidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) and Ursula Winterauer (Vienna, Austria), also known by the pseudonym Gischt, documents a process of listening, research, and engagement with specific urban environments. Here, sound becomes a medium of resonance – between people, places, and potential futures. Both composers sensitively capture the acoustic conditions of these cities through field recordings – sounds, noise, social interactions, and cultural connotations. These snapshots are layered, arranged, and assembled in the studio, resulting in new sound architectures that reflect and transform the characteristics of their respective locations like an acoustic terroir. "MurMur" by Giorgi Koberidze transforms acoustic instrumental sounds through sampling and modulation into a new composition, in which organic and electronic elements merge. "When Dust Settles," composed by Ursula Winterauer, shapes construction site sounds and voices into a reflection on transience and renewal. Both works make urban space in transition tangible and reveal it as a structure of constant flux, where atmospheres, movements, and intensities are permanently reconfigured. This album was created at the initiative of Openspace from Innsbruck and was shaped within the framework of the ongoing Creative Europe project SLASH TRANSITION through artist residencies at Openspace Innsbruck (AT) and Trempo, Nantes (FR).
