Kabelac: Symphony No. 2

Miloslav Kabeláč is one of the most important Czech composers of the 20th century. Alongside Antonín Dvořák and Bohuslav Martinů, he is considered today one of the most important Czech symphonists, and his work is regarded as a fundamental part of the Czech musical tradition. His oeuvre encompasses almost every musical genre (with the exception of stage music). At the center of his creative output are eight symphonies, each featuring a unique instrumentation. With the Czech conductor Jakub Hrůša, the ORF Vienna Symphony Orchestra has brought an absolute expert to the podium. Hrůša is able to impressively illuminate the richly scored scores and passionately bring this still unfairly forgotten music to life.
