Description

The Baroque ensemble Camerata Øresund and its musical director/violinist Peter Spissky explore the world of Wilhelmine von Bayreuth (1709-1758), who made a name for herself as a composer, instrumentalist and art patron. The recording brings to light works by Wilhelmine and musicians from her circle, rediscovering some pieces that had long been forgotten. Wilhelmine's entrepreneurial spirit, her intellect, her talent and her deep love of music and the arts remain a source of inspiration even today. This album is a tribute to the life and legacy of this remarkable woman of the arts and reveals vibrant musical colors and sounds in the concertos, dances and arias.
