Hindemith in Paris

This recording stems from two central inspirations: on one hand, Guilhem Kusnierek’s courage to interpret works from the French repertoire not typically associated with the trombone on this instrument, and on the other, the heartfelt desire of his chamber music partner and friend Christopher Park to champion Paul Hindemith’s all-too-often neglected Sonata for Trombone and Piano. On their album, they combine this sonata with works by Claude Debussy and Charles Koechlin, as well as songs by Paul Hindemith which they arranged for trombone and piano. Hindemith dedicated these songs to his wife Gertrud, who had received vocal training in her youth and spoke fluent French. The title "Hindemith in Paris" ties together the concept and program of the album.
