Sebastian Berner is one of the most renowned trumpeters of his generation: in 2022, he won first prize at the Maurice André International Competition in Paris and is the principal trumpet of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony. While Henri Tomasi's Trumpet Concerto from 1948 is quite well-known, the Concertino for Trumpet and Orchestra by the Belgian composer Joseph Jongen from 1913 is heard much less frequently, and the concerto by Jongen's student Léon Stekke from July 1937 was recorded for the first time for this album. Another world premiere is Charles Koechlin's Chants de Kervéléan, which was transcribed for trumpet and orchestra by Robert Orlidge in 2008. Florent Schmitt's Suite in three parts was premiered in its 1956 orchestral version by Maurice André.
