Handel: Il Floridante

Fresh, creative, and colorful, Cembaless performs an arrangement of the opera "Il Floridante" by George Frideric Handel (HWV 14). The extraordinary ensemble is unique not only in its instrumentation but also in the challenge of having all vocal parts performed by a single singer, soprano Elisabeth von Stritzky. In the digital version of the album (Art. No. 9.70416, EAN: 730099741613), poetry slammer Florian Wintels provides a witty and eloquent free interpretation of the libretto, guiding the audience through the ups and downs that the opera's protagonists must endure. In doing so, he increasingly makes reference to the three central themes of the production: morality, courage, and justice. The ensemble Cembaless takes its name from its instrumentation, which, unusually for early music, does not include a harpsichord (cembalo). Passionate and sensitive, the ensemble experiments in its arrangements and always finds new paths in its approach to concerts and spatial design. Its debut album, "Passacaglia della Vita," was nominated for awards including the Opus Klassik, IMAC, and the German Record Critics' Award.
