Description

Covent Garden had never been so crowded as on that evening in 1736 when George Frideric Handel celebrated the power of music with the premiere of his oratorio about Alexander the Great, and thus also celebrated one of his greatest successes. For this original English version, Alfredo Bernardini has brought together the fantastic voices of the Arnold Schoenberg Choir with his dynamic Zefiro Baroque Orchestra. The three soloists Miriam Kutrowatz, Daniel Johannsen and Damien Gastl tell the ancient story of the singer Timotheus's ability to influence the mood of Alexander the Great, and thus to evoke a true rush of emotion that illustrates the power of music over politics and war.
