Grieg: Piano Music

Edvard Grieg's piano music conjures up entire worlds, ranging from melancholy to exuberance and from passionate bittersweetness to pastoral pre-Impressionism. The distinguished Grieg specialist Einar Steen-Nøkleberg has recorded for NAXOS the full spectrum of Grieg's works for solo piano, from the popular Lyric Pieces to the epic Ballade, including inspired arrangements of well-known melodies as well as Grieg's rarely heard student compositions, fragments, and sketches. "It is hard to imagine better interpretations of this music." (BBC Music Magazine)
