Foote: Complete Works for Cello

Cellist Julian Schwarz makes his Delos debut with a landmark album containing Arthur Foote’s complete cello works, including the world’s first commercial recording of the Cello Concerto. As the only member of the “Boston Six” to have received his entire education in the United States, Arthur Foote is considered America’s first native-born talent. Although his works are performed and appreciated far less than they should be for reasons that remain unclear, his keen sense of melody and rich harmonic language are captivating; he composed a wealth of music for cello and piano, which is performed here by GRAMMY®-nominated cellist Julian Schwarz, pianist and partner Marika Bournaki, and internationally renowned conductor Gerard Schwarz with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
