Description

It was Johnny Cash who declared: “There is no greater country singer than Marty Robbins.” Yet Marty Robbins (1925–1982) was so much more than just one of the most popular country singers of all time. His warm, engaging voice proved that he equally mastered rock ‘n’ roll, pop, Hawaiian music, standards, cool jazz, and above all, his own genre of “gunfighter ballads.” From his debut album Tomorrow You'll Be Gone in 1951 to his biggest British hit Devil Woman in 1962, this album features Marty’s very best songs. Following his first No. 1, I'll Go On Alone, comes a series of other hits: Singing The Blues, A White Sport Coat, The Story Of My Life. Then come the great gunfighter ballads such as El Paso, Big Iron, The Hanging Tree, Running Gun, The Ballad Of The Alamo... Johnny Cash was right.
