Description

It was on American soil that Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) began composing his Cello Concerto. Free from any prejudice, he had developed a great interest in the culture of Native Americans and African Americans during his long stay in the United States of America. Raphaël Jouan, who moves between classical music, jazz, improvisation, and world music as part of his trio or his duo with accordion, could not help but be receptive to the open-mindedness of the Czech composer. And when he decided to attempt this iconic work for his orchestral recording debut, it was only to experience a shared adventure and to share it with musicians who are dear to his heart.
