Draeseke: Piano Works

Felix Draeseke’s early affinity for the music of Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner left its mark on his own compositions from this period, not least his “Sonata quasi Fantasia in C sharp minor,” a work of lush Wagnerian openness combined with ballet-like lightness. It also marked a significant turning point from a revolutionary style to a more conservative approach. As Liszt wrote to him: ‘Since Schumann’s Sonata in F sharp minor, I know of no more significant work in this genre.’ The program also includes a virtuosic “Grande Fantaisie,” two characterful “Fantasiestücke,” and Chopin-esque characteristics in the “Valse-Nocturne.” Vladimir Aćimović (born 2002 in Niš), laureate of international competitions, has won top prizes at the International Robert Schumann Piano Competition in Düsseldorf and the Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam Competition, among others. He has performed throughout Europe and in the United States, including appearances at the Vienna State Opera and Harris Hall. Vladimir Aćimović has performed in all major concert halls of his home country and is a regular guest on national radio stations.
