Description

A historic document: John Neumeier agreed for the first time to have one of his ballets filmed during the week of its world premiere. The film impressively showcases the outstanding quality of the Hamburg Ballet ensemble. John Neumeier himself says: “Dona Nobis Pacem – give us peace. This title is important to me, even at the risk of it appearing naive, sentimental, or even pretentious to some. In view of the growing intolerance in our world, this idea provided an important impetus for me to engage with Johann Sebastian Bach’s multifaceted composition (Mass in B minor). In my 50th season as artistic director, I see this production as a great opportunity.”
