Description

Following the remarkable success of "Requiem," which was awarded the 2025 Félix Prize for Classical Album of the Year, composer François Dompierre, conductor Francis Choinière, and the Orchestre FILMharmonique have reunited for an ambitious new project: "Les Quatre Saisons du Québec." As part of a long tradition of musical works inspired by the seasons, this original composition captures the landscapes, colors, and musical traditions that shape Quebec's identity. Conceived as a tribute to the province's rich cultural heritage, it celebrates folk, Acadian, Irish, and North American influences. "Just as Piazzolla reinterpreted Vivaldi's work through the sounds of the tango, I chose to honor my Quebec heritage by placing our traditional dances and folk songs at the center," said François Dompierre.

Performed by the Orchestre FILMharmonique under the direction of Francis Choinière and featuring violin soloist Isabella d’Éloize Perron, "Les Quatre Saisons du Québec" will embark on a major tour starting in September 2026. Following six performances across Quebec, the program will travel to five major European cultural capitals—Bordeaux, Paris, Vienna, Berlin, and Prague—where it will be presented alongside Antonio Vivaldi's and Astor Piazzolla's "Four Seasons." Together, these works create a unique musical dialogue between European tradition, Latin American innovation, and Quebec's creativity. With "Les Quatre Saisons du Québec," François Dompierre adds a significant new work to his artistic legacy, offering audiences a vivid musical portrait of Quebec—its landscape, its history, and its spirit.
