Conti: Works for Strings

Diego Conti's recent compositions for string ensemble can be placed within an aesthetic context that can broadly be defined as postmodern. There is a variety of approaches to the subject of sound, which are guided by different and diverging strategies. From the extension of serial combination series on material and stylistic morphology, as with Ligeti, to modulation and plurilingual modeling, as with Berio; from the synthesis of minimalist iteration and tonal orders, as with John Adams or Louis Andriessen, to a turning away from the methods of the 1970s. The recording is the result of the collaboration between the composer and the Chaos String Quartet, which was founded in the student environment of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, one of the most renowned international music institutions.
