Description

Neglected since the death of Marc-Antoine Charpentier, the genre of the oratorio experienced a revival through Louis-Nicolas Clérambault, a worthy successor to the Old Master. Under the direction of Reinoud Van Mechelen, a nocte temporis presents a masterful performance of Clérambault's moving version of the biblical story "l'Histoire de la Femme adultère" (Jesus and the Adulteress). Every note reveals the depth of the human soul. The Chœur de Chambre de Namur also showcases its virtuosity on this album in the timeless Te Deum à Grand Chœur under the direction of Reinoud Van Mechelen.
