The state of Finland celebrates its centenary in 2017. This occasion has prompted the Finnish government, as well as cultural figures around the world, to highlight the rich cultural heritage of this relatively young nation. Under the consistently excellent direction of Marcus Creed, the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart presents a wonderful, sonorous birthday gift in the form of this superb album of choral music by widely renowned composers such as Jean Sibelius, Einojuhani Rautavaara and Kaija Saariaho, as well as by figures yet to be discovered, such as Jukka Linkola and Riikka Talvitie.
