Bruckner: Symphonies Nos. 7 + 8

Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 marked a new beginning in several respects: it differed from its predecessors not only in its musical language and formal structure, but it was also the first symphony to bring the now 60-year-old composer the long-missed success. Yet, with his Eighth, self-doubt returned, and soon after completing the first version, he prepared a revision. Eliahu Inbal was one of the first conductors worldwide to trust the original Brucknerian vision and bring the first version of 1887 back into the concert halls. Both symphonies can be heard on this album with the SWR Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra.
