Bruckner: Symphony No. 4 in E-flat major 'Romantic'

At the border between High and Late Romanticism, a time when the stylistic era was poised to change and eventually dissolve, Anton Bruckner once again revived the originality of the Romantic spirit with his Fourth Symphony. He himself gave his work the title "Romantic," which remains popular to this day, and it evokes an ideal world in bright, unblemished colors. Conductor Bernard Haitink led his first Munich subscription concert in 1958 and subsequently returned time and again to the podium of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. This congenial collaboration lasted for more than six decades. The present recording is the first release of a concert performance from January 2012.
