Description

Anton Bruckner began his career as a symphonic composer at the mature age of 39. After having previously attempted only one study symphony (in F minor) and gained experience with smaller (choral) works, he was now ready for his first 'real' symphony. The moderately well-received work was at best a modest success in 1868, but was quickly set aside again. Later, Bruckner would create a revised "Vienna version". Here, as part of their comprehensive Bruckner edition, Markus Poschner and the Bruckner Orchester Linz present the original "Linz version" of the symphony from 1868, thus Bruckner in his purest form.
