Brochocka: Unquiet Heart

Katarzyna Brochocka's third album features world premiere recordings of selected works she composed between 2008 and 2023. Released by CD Accord, the album showcases a wide range of compositions, including sacred and secular works, solo and chamber music, and vocal and instrumental pieces. This varied repertoire represents just a part of Brochocka's extensive output, which is gaining increasing recognition. Drawing on a wide variety of musical forms and conventions, Brochocka demonstrates her maturity and versatility as an artist with a unique musical language. The album's central theme is the restless heart. The music is an artistic reinterpretation of this symbol, drawing on both ancient religious traditions and modern secular poetry. Notably, many of the pieces on the album make biblical references, reflecting the growing importance of this thematic aspect in the composer's recent work.

The album includes: two psalms for low voice and double bass, a string quintet, Chamber Pieces: songs on poems by James Joyce for mezzo-soprano, harp and double bass, Servant Songs for piano, and Soliloquia for solo double bass.
