Birgit Nilsson - A League of Her Own

There are singers who are world-famous, and there are those who are legends. Birgit Nilsson belonged to both categories. Even her usually reserved contemporaries described her voice as an event, as an eternal reference, especially in the Wagner repertoire. This newly conceived film documentary for the soprano's 100th birthday contains never-before-seen film footage of Nilsson as well as numerous interviews with eyewitnesses. The directors Thomas Voigt and Wolfgang Wunderlich were able to win over an illustrious group of interviewees for this documentary, including, among others, James Levine, Marilyn Horne, Christa Ludwig, Otto Schenk, Plácido Domingo, Jonas Kaufmann and Nina Stemme. It is the first DVD/Blu-ray release of the production company Unitel on its own label.
