Famous Opera Choirs

“Fuoco di gioia” – in a vocal “fire of joy,” the compatriots of the victorious protagonist hail his triumphant return to his home port at the beginning of Verdi’s “Otello.” This operatic quotation thus became the motto for the new album that the Bavarian Radio Chorus recently recorded together with the Munich Radio Orchestra under the baton of its chief conductor, Ivan Repušić. Beginning with these words, the operatic choral scene opens the selection of famous choruses and instrumental pieces from stage works of Italian bel canto (Verdi) and verismo (Leoncavallo, Puccini, Mascagni), Russian opera (Borodin, Glinka, Tchaikovsky), and the operas of Richard Wagner. Recorded only in January, February, and July 2019, the recordings present well-known melodies to be enjoyed and also sung along to (whether surreptitiously or confidently). A musical firework display featuring famous choruses and instrumental pieces from Italian, German, and Russian operas on the new album from BR-KLASSIK.
