Beethoven: Symphonies Nos. 4, 6 + 7

Carlos Kleiber, like few conductors of his generation, became a legend during his lifetime—not least because he appeared only rarely in his later years. Even the stages and opera houses where he achieved his greatest success, above all Munich and Vienna, could no longer persuade him to emerge from his self-imposed seclusion. As early as the beginning of the 1980s, when his legendary recordings of Beethoven’s Symphonies Nos. 4, 6 and 7 with the Bavarian State Orchestra were made, his performances were rare events and his recordings sensations. On the occasion of the Bavarian State Orchestra’s 500th anniversary, these still epoch-making recordings are being reissued on vinyl in a 3-LP set.
